Well-known pig business, Lincolnshire Pork Company, has received a prestigious Two-Star Great Taste Award for their boned and rolled pork loin joint.
Great Taste describes itself as ‘the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme’, with food and drink or drink put to the test with a panel of over 500 experts, including chefs, buyers, food writers and retailers. Products can receive a 1-, 2- or 3-star accolade.
Awarding a 2-star award to the business’s Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop, the judges said the pork loin was ‘presented to us with a beautiful crackling and melt-in-the-mouth meat’.
“The soft texture of the loin was juicy and the flavour lingers. There is nothing that could be done to make this better,” one of the judges said.
“This attractively presented and generously sized pork loin cuts with ease. It is well scored, which also makes for easy carving. The meat is moist and tender with the fat marbling bringing an extra dimension of flavour and the crackling is crisp with an unctuous layer of sweet fat beneath.
“This is pork of the highest quality … the most delicious, tender, sweet meat that continues to give. The crackling is just faultless. Absolutely world class. This is an ode to raising an animal properly … sensational.”
Meryl Ward, a director of the family business, alongside her son, Sam, said: “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. It is a reward for great teamwork, from farm to fork.”
