Ladies in Pigs (LIPs) is looking for a social media savvy person to take over as its chair in the spring.
LIPs currently faces a number of challenges, including replacing its chair of the past 10 years, Sue Woodall (pictured centre), but the industry is very keen to see it continue, as was clear when the issue was discussed at a recent NPA Producer Group meeting.
More details about the advertised post and how to apply can be viewed here.
LIPs said the successful applicant would ideally have some pig industry knowledge, and skills in communication, presentations, budgeting and food preparation.
“Maybe someone more social media savvy who is passionate about food and could produce
innovative cooking videos or events that could reach out to a new audience,” Sue said.
The chair’s role is varied and includes all aspects of admin as well as coordinating staff for
events, attending executive meetings twice a year and representing LIPS at other industry
meetings such as NPA producer group.
The Chairman’s position is advertised as part time and is expected to start from March 2018. The closing date to apply is December 8.
LIPs was founded in 1991 by a group of women who wanted to promote the Pig industry. It is still going strong, with around 250 members nationwide, sponsored mainly from AHDB pork and allied industry companies.
The key aim is to promote British Pig meat, offer innovative ideas and to educate consumers about looking out for the Red Tractor symbol on food packaging. The members do this by producing fabulous recipes, going to events throughout the country, giving cookery demonstration’s and talks.
They have extended their promotional campaigns to schools and colleges and have greater involvement in Education Days.
