Nottinghamshire MP Mark Spencer has retained his role at Defra as new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak continues to reshuffle his Ministerial team.
Mr Sunak appointed Therese Coffey as Defra Secretary earlier in the week, replacing Ranil Jayawardena, but Mr Spencer, who was appointed as Farming Minister by Liz Truss a few weeks ago, keeps his role.
Mr Spencer has already voiced his intention to support the British pig sector and chose a pig farm for his first farm visit in the role.
He came to the post with a strong farming background, having studied at Shuttleworth Agricultural College in Bedfordshire, before joining the family farm business. A former member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, he has often spoken out in support of farmers during his time as an MP.
He served as Chief Whip from 2019 to 2022 and as Leader of the House of Commons and from February to September 2022.
