Ladies in Pigs (Lips) new show unit has gone on the road and straight into work promoting Red Tractor pork.
The keys were handed over to Lips chairwoman Sue Woodall at a BPEX event in Warwickshire on September 5, and the new Peugeot-chassied unit immediately set off for its first booking at the Nantwich Food & Drink Festival, in Cheshire, on September 6, 7 and 8.
The new unit, which has been named Rosie, is been finished in red to help it stand out from the run-of-the-mill food vans found at shows and events.
“We don’t sell food at shows, but prepare recipes promoting Red Tractor pork and offer taster pots to the public,” Sue told Pig World. “We also give out recipe cards and sell our recipe book, and will answer consumers’ questions about the pig industry.”
The new van is 3ft longer than the unit it replaces, which was known by Lips members as Betsy and was on the road for nearly 16 years covering 86,000 miles. It has been funded and supplied via BPEX under a five-year lease deal and built by 4Sure coachbuilders at Corby, Northamptonshire.
To help get the word out about the new unit, Lips is holding a competition on Facebook for the best picture of the unit taken while its on its travels around England.
