A new pig producer is being sought to join the BPEX board to replace Richard Longthorp who is close to completing his second three-year term of office.
BPEX Chairman Stewart Houston said: “We are looking for somebody with a good knowledge of the industry and who plays an active role in it.
“Board members have come from all areas of production, both indoor and outdoor, and have enjoyed making a positive contribution to the future of the industry. They have helped develop and implement strategies for a sustainable and competitive pig industry.”
The board consists of 12 members covering pig producers, processors and one independent representative. Members are expected to commit two days a month to Board duties, for which a payment is made, plus expenses.
The closing date for applications is September 15, 2014. Further details are available from Rachel Adamson of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, of which BPEX is a division.
