Specially Selected Pork (SSP) was the focus on a new sausage-making world record at the weekend’s Taste of Grampian food festival when Dundee butcher, David Patterson, made 54 sausages in 60 seconds, 10 more than had previously been achieved.
SSP, the Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) pork label was already the featured sponsor of the north-east Scotland food event, backing the festival alongside its “Do More with Pork” campaign which is targeted to reach over three million consumers during the next six weeks.
Head of Communications at QMS, Carol McLaren, said the sausage challenge had been great fun, an excellent chance to showcase the SSP Pork brand and an opportunity to show consumers the traditional skills and innovation to be found in butchers’ shops around the country.
Pork was also the key ingredient used during an Aspiring Young Chef contest at Taste of Grampian, which was won jointly by Giorgia Alcaras (15) and Ross Maxwell (18).
Both received a ÂŁ200 voucher to buy cooking equipment with Giorgia receiving a further ÂŁ100 voucher from Scottish Pig Producers for creating the top pork dish.
