RSPCA Assured pulled pork took centre stage at the Glastonbury Festival with caterers, the Chopping Block, reporting good sales for the product alongside their Blythburgh Estate bacon and sausages.
Glastonbury was one of five featured summer festivals targeted by RSPCA Assured as venues to promote its new image, moving on from the former Freedom Food branding, with pulled pork being one of the featured products.
“We’re giving festival fans the chance to try some of our higher welfare food and to help us spread the word about our change of name,” said RSPCA Assured’s Liam Kurzeja, urging anyone who visits the organisation’s food mobile this year to “let us know on social media, using hashtag #rspcaassured!”
Having already appeared at the Wolf Run in Leicestershire in mid-June, then Glastonbury this past weekend, the food mobile is set for the following venues:
- July 3-4 – Maverick Festival, Easton Farm Park, Suffolk,
- July 23-27 – Somersault Festival, North Devon, and,
- August 28-30 – Jamie’s Big Festival, Alex James’ farm, Kingham, Cotswolds.
As regards the Glastonbury experience, The Chopping Block’s Ben Jones commented: “Our presence at the glamping site at Glastonbury is among our most successful events, where Blythburgh Estate bacon and sausages, along with BBQ pulled pork, were our biggest sellers during the festival.”
