Mike Sheldon is to remain as chair of the Red Tractor Pork board for another year, after the assurance scheme failed to appoint a replacement.
Mr Sheldon was due to step down in November after completing his three-year term and Red Tractor interviewed a number of candidates before asking Mr Sheldon, who also chairs the AHDB Pork board, to stay on.
Red Tractor CEO Jim Moseley said: “The recruitment drive produced some excellent candidates with first rate experience and qualifications.
“However, faced with the changes that the new Red Tractor Vision brings, together with the evolving political climate, it was decided that retaining Mike Sheldon for an additional year was Red Tractor’s best option. As Mike has led the new risk-based inspection regime, which rolls out across all sectors in the 2019/20 year, he will also provide continuity and leadership.”
Mr Sheldon said he was ‘really pleased to be asked to continue the drive forward for another year’.
