The entries are in, and we have had another excellent response from the British pig industry. Now, it is over to our illustrious panel of judges to select their finalists and winners.
Stewart Houston (chairman)
This is Stewart’s 10th year heading up the judging panel. He chairs the Red Tractor Pigs Board and the Pig Sector Group, and leads the Pathway Liaison Group. He is also vice-president of the British Pig Association.
Rob Mutimer
Rob is in his second stint as chairman of the NPA. He and his wife, Helen, run 750 outdoor sows with indoor straw-based finishing, producing pigs for the Waitrose supply chain.
Lizzie Wilson
Lizzie has been the NPA’s chief executive since August 2022. She has worked in the UK pig industry for over 20 years and has a grounding in practical pig production, as well as policy and legislation.
Charlotte Evans
Charlotte is AHDB’s head of engagement for pork. She is responsible for the development of levy payer and stakeholder engagement, as well as acting as media spokesperson and platform speaker for the sector.
Sam Bradley
Sam joined ForFarmers at the start of 2022 as pig technical and commercial adviser, supporting the sales and commercial teams. She previously worked at AHDB for nine years.
Mick Sloyan
Mick has been an independent industry analyst since 2018. One of the pig sector’s most experienced and respected figures, he was AHDB’s strategy director for 10 years prior to that.
Dan Tucker
Dan is a veterinarian specialising in pigs, based at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Veterinary Medicine, with clinical experience in many countries. He is vice-president of the
UK Pig Veterinary Society.
Tom Haynes
Tom joined the NPA as a policy adviser in June to lead the NPA’s public affairs and government engagement work. He also worked in roles across Westminster.
Alistair Driver
Alistair has been editor of Pig World since August 2016 and is group editor of other MAG Agriculture titles, as well as NPA webmaster.Â
The pedigree category is judged by the British Pig Association.
