The third of the NPA’s Spring Regional meetings will take place in Diss on Tuesday evening, April 24.
The East Regional meeting will take place at Diss RFC, Bellrope Lane, Diss, Norfolk, IP22 5RG from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.
A hot buffet will be served for all attendees at 6.30pm and the meeting will kick off at 7pm with updates from the NPA team on key issues, including Brexit and the NPA’s response to Defra’s Command paper on food and farming, labelling, proposed changes to pig welfare policy, new environmental charges and African Swine Fever.
This will be followed by an update on the market by Bethan Wilkins from AHDB’s Market Intelligence team. Outdoor producer Chris Fogden Chris Fogden, Norfolk pig producer, will give a presentation about what he found during a recent visit to Australia to look at pig production ‘Down Under’. Chris will also talk about his recent experience with the media, which resulted in an appearance on BBC’s Countryfile.
East regional chairman Simon Guise said: “As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf.”
For the first time this year, the NPA is running one-hour surgeries prior to the start of each meeting, offering members the opportunity to book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them. The East surgery will start at 5.30pm.
