The NPA South Central Spring Regional meeting takes place in Newbury on Tuesday evening, April 17.
The event will be held at Newbury Rugby Club, Monks Lane, Newbury RG14 7RW, from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.
For the first time this year, the NPA is running one hour surgeries prior to the start of each meeting, offering members the opportunity to book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them. The South Central surgery will start at 5.30pm.
A hot buffet will be served for all attendees at 6.30pm and the meeting will kick off at 7pm with updates from the NPA team on key issues, including Brexit and how the proposed changes to pig welfare policy might impact on members.
This will be followed by an update on the market by Bethan Wilkins from AHDB’s Market Intelligence team.
Then, in a piece of ideal timing following the programme’s feature on Sunday on pig farming systems and labelling, Anna Jones, a director on BBC’s Countryfile and a 2016 Nuffield Scholar, will present her vision for how farmers and the mainstream media could work better together to combat the urban/rural disconnect.
South Central regional chair Sally Stockings said: “As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf.”
Please email Andrea Vickers andrea.vickers@npanet.org.uk to confirm your attendance at the meeting. You can also book a time slot at the surgery by contacting Andrea.
