The first of the NPA’s 2018 Spring Regional meetings takes place in Exeter on Tuesday.
The South West will be held on Tuesday April 10, at Exeter Racecourse, from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.
For the first time this year, the NPA will be running a one hour surgery prior to the start of the meeting, offering members the opportunity to book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them. The South West surgery will start at 5.30pm.
A hot buffet will be served for all attendees at 6.30pm and the meeting will kick off at 7pm with updates from the NPA team on key issues, including Brexit, with less than a year to go now until we leave the EU, and how the proposed changes to pig welfare policy might impact on members.
This will be followed by an update on the market by Duncan Wyatt from AHDB’s Market Intelligence team.
Then Georgina Crayford, NPA’s senior policy adviser, will present the findings from her Nuffield Farming Scholarship travels. Having visited pig farms and vets in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Canada and Australia she will highlight what she believes the pig industry needs to do in order to improve pig health and reduce reliance on antibiotics.
South West regional chairman Andrew Freemantle said: “As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf.”
You can book a time slot at the surgery or indicate your attendance at the meeting, contract Andrea Vickers at andrea.vickers@npanet.org.uk
