NPA has produced a briefing document on Brexit, outlining the implications of the process for the pig sector.
Key issues covered include trade, labour supply, animal disease controls including border control, animal welfare and future farm support.
The document also explains the position which NPA is taking on behalf of members, alongside a number of “key asks” to Government as the Brexit negotiations unfold.
One NPA priority on trade, for example, is to ensure the pig sector is not disadvantaged by the opening up of UK markets to cheaper, lower welfare imports.
The association is also seeking assurances that the supply chain will continue to have access to both skilled and unskilled labour post-Brexit.
