The NPA’s chief policy adviser, Charlie Dewhirst, has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Bridlington and The Wolds constituency at the next General Election.
Charlie will no longer be able to work for the NPA once the campaigning starts, but will continue in his role until into next year, during which time the NPA will recruit a replacement.
NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said: “This is a great achievement for Charlie in a very tough selection process.
“There are, of course, implications in terms of Charlie’s role at the NPA as we get closer to the election. Charlie is still available before the campaigning process begins in earnest – therefore, we have agreed a managed transition to enable us to recruit a replacement.
“To that end, we will begin the recruitment process in the New Year, to ensure we have someone in position in preparation for Charlie leaving the NPA in spring.
“We will all be very sorry to lose Charlie, but would like to congratulate him on his successful first step in becoming an MP.”
