The Aberdeenshire-based nutrition company, Harbro, has been appointed as UK sales agent for an electronic sow feeding system (ESF) which has already secured 40 placements on Scottish farms.
The system, produced by Schauer, is designed to accommodate up to 90 sows, with ID tag being used to enable individual sows or groups of sows to be isolated according to feeding requirements.
“ESF gives more control over feed intake as the sows move through the dry period, a key time for targeted nutrition,” said Harbro sales director, Chris Baxter. “Diets can also be individually tailored through the facility to top-dress sow diets with additives or medicines.”
As part of the new agency arrangement, the planning and installation of the sow feeders will be carried out by the Harbro sister company, Feedmix.
