The Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) is calleing on feed advisers and animal nutritionists to register for its Feed Adviser Register and take advantage of a discounted rate that’s available until the end of October.
Existing AIC members applying before that date will qualify for a rate of £60 compared to £70, while non-members will pay £95 as opposed to £105.
Â
The register, which was launched in May this year, has already attracted more than 700 applications. It’s been set up to assure the standards of feeding advice provided to livestock farmers, particularly in terms of addressing the needs of the Greenhouse Gas Action Plan.
Â
The Feed Adviser Register aims to provide a way for livestock advisers to demonstrate professional competence. It also demonstrates to Government that the industry is actively addressing the challenges within the Greenhouse Gas Action Plan to reduce emissions from livestock.
Â
The managing director of AIC Services, John Kelley, said he was pleased with the response to the register to date and urged those who hadn’t registered yet to do so.
“We believe that membership of register will benefit feed advisers and animal nutritionists, and will provide a high degree of assurance for livestock producers,” he said.
Feed advisers and animal nutritionists with two years or more proven experience can join the register as full members. For those with less experience and new entrants, there is a ‘development’ status registration. On-going membership will require verification of core competencies.
