European animal feed sector leaders want to be able to move innovative products and technologies faster onto the market than is currently possible and are hoping a planned innovation event in June will help them to advance their cause.
FEFAC, the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation, and FEFANA, the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients, are to hold an invitational conference on the theme of “Innovation in Animal Nutrition” in Brussels on June 9, 2016, and the two bodies have set ambitious goals for the event.
“Together with breeding, animal nutrition has been the engine of continuous improvement within the EU livestock sector for decades,” said FEFANA president, Marco Bruni, and FEFAC president, Ruud Tijssens, in a joint statement, issued to preview the June conference.
“Better animal nutrition leads to better animal performance, welfare and health, while an enhanced knowledge of specialty feed ingredients and compound feed delivers economic benefits to farmers, as well as having great potential to mitigate the environmental impacts of livestock production.”
The two presidents also said they were seeking to increase the pace of product and technology development at a market level, adding that they were looking forward to securing a “fruitful dialogue” with EU decision makers and other important stakeholders during the Brussels conference.
