Pig producers and allied industry companies are being urged to consider taking on a pig industry scholar under an industry initiative promoting careers in the sector.
For the last seven years, AHDB has been working with Harper Adams University to recruit highly qualified and committed young entrants into the pig industry under The Pig Industry Scholarship.
Applications to become a sponsor close on August 5 and a scholarship fair will take place at Harper Adams University, Shropshire, in October.
In a message to producers and allied industry companies, AHDB said: “Are you a forward-thinking pig producer or do you work for a business that could offer sponsorship and a placement to a bright, young scholar?
“By joining the programme, you will have first access to high-calibre, potential new employees and raise the profile of careers in our industry.
“If you can offer a placement, whether it’s on-farm, in an animal health or nutrition business, or perhaps in agri-food and marketing, we would love to hear from you.”
