Nominations have opened for this year’s David Black Award which is given to someone who has gone the “extra mile” in making an important and sustained contribution to the pig industry.
“The British pig industry has been going through a sustained period of recovery but there are challenges ahead,” said BPEX director Mick Sloyan, chair of the award’s independent panel of judges.
“It takes exceptional people to rise to these challenges and help the industry face and overcome them. There are plenty of people like that in the British pig industry and the aim of the David Black Award is to recognise their contribution.”
The award, which was instituted more than 50 years ago, will be presented at an industry breakfast in November, held at the House of Lords.
