The new director of livestock R&D and knowledge exchange for AHDB is to be Chris Lloyd, stepping up from his previous role as AHDB Beef and Lamb’s industry development manager.
Mr Lloyd will work alongside Dr Bill Parker who already holds the equivalent directorship for crops, with both men reporting to AHDB’s chief technical officer, Richard Laverick. The appointment of Mr Lloyd completes AHDB’s senior technical team.
Having worked in the livestock sector throughout his career, both on farms and in technical and political roles, Mr Lloyd’s appointment continues an association with AHDB and its predecessor bodies which began when he joined EBLEX in 2003. His task at that time was to deliver the organisation’s Sheep Better Returns Programme which was extended to include the beef sector in 2006.
A Nuffield Farming Scholar, he also spent 16 years working for the National Sheep Association.
