Meat and Livestock Commercial Services Limited (MLCSL) has appointed Wm Morrison’s former agricultural manager, Andrew Loftus, as an independent board member.
Coming from a livestock breeding and family farming background, in addition to his supermarket sector work, Mr Loftus brings “extensive experience” of agriculture and red meat supply chain to his new position.
MLCSL is the commercially trading wholly-owned subsidiary of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board. The organisation is best known for its independent carcase classification process and dressing inspection service to the red meat abattoirs throughout the UK, against which beef, sheep and pig producers are paid deadweight for their stock.
