Meadow Quality Ltd has announced the appointment of Simon Davies to its in his new role as commercial director.
Mr Davies will have special responsibility to continue the smooth running of the company’s pig business, while guiding forward strategy in a rapidly evolving business environment.
Pigs make up a significant part of Meadow Quality‘s annual turnover of about £80 million, and the organisation’s market share is growing.
When Mr Davies joined the business in 2007, he was keen to ensure Meadow Quality offered a valuable contribution to the pigmeat supply chain. He soon realised professional pig farmers spend much of their focus on the output from their own production systems and growing pigs efficiently to maximise output and returns on their own farms.
“They therefore appreciate the help and security that belonging to a group can bring,” he said, “leaving market research and developing a range of sales options to other experts in the chain – especially when those experts are there for them exclusively.”
Mr Davies is committed to joined-up thinking through the supply chain and enjoys the trust and respect of the many pig farmers who work with us. “It allows them to focus on what they do best,” he said, “while providing an important ring of security around their trading.”
