Pupils at Northwood Primary school on the Isle of Wight were rewarded with a visit from pigs after a project on the process of building a house from different materials.
To generate interest among pupils, teachers used the classic Three Little Pigs story, referencing to the apparent difference in strength between houses built with different methods, as well as the vulnerabilities surrounding them.
The school has encouraged the Year 1 class to also attend school dressed as builders and construction workers. Pupils also visited a building site where they could ask workers the benefits and drawbacks of using the wrong materials.
Northwood Primary pupils were asked to produce a project and a model village based on their research. Staff were so impressed that they’ve arranged a reward – for a delivery of pigs to visit the school.
