Red Tractor, is searching for a new chairman to oversee its Pig Sector Committee. The successful candidate will take the reins from Mike Sheldon, who has given more than seven years’ service to Red Tractor.
It is a pivotal role for the pig industry at a time when the assurance scheme is strengthening in a bid to become the flagship for British food and farming at home and abroad.
Key responsibilities will include leading the sector to ensure it contributes to that vision, but also ensures the continued development of the pigs scheme and its standards.
Red Tractor said it is looking for a strong leader with the ability to bring together diverse interests and establish clear strategies for the sector. Board, senior management or industry leadership experience together with an excellent knowledge of the pork industry is required. Candidates should also be politically astute and willing to embracing change.
This part-time position is remunerated on the basis of approximately 25 days per year and the closing date for applications is July 12.
