Stewart Houston has been appointed as vice-president of the British Pig Association (BPA).
Stewart chairs the Red Tractor pigs sector board and the Pig Pathway Project Group and has previously held prominent roles in various leading industry bodies, including the NPA and BPEX-AHDB.
The BPA represents and supports the pedigree sector and Stewart’s role as a non-executive director on the BPA’s board will bolster its representation on the Pig Pathway.
Stewart said: “I was present at the AGM in 1999 when the BPA was established, and I’m honoured to take on the role of vice-president in this 25th anniversary year.
“I’ve always believed we can only have one pig industry made up of large and small-scale producers, and I try to represent both in the work I’m doing with Defra on the Health and Welfare Pathway.”
