Preparations for the third year of the Pig Industry Scholarship at Harper Adams University has been launched, with companies being asked to register their interest in being involved in the support and placement process by August 1.
Created by the National Pig Association Allied Industry Group and backed by AHDB Pork, the scholarship is designed to recruit highly qualified and committed young entrants into the pig industry.
The scheme, which includes a paid placement year in the pig industry, is open to second year BSc and first year FdSc students studying at Harper Adams. Company commitment includes providing a £4500 contribution towards tuition fees with the option of a second £4500 contribution during the student’s final year, subject to review following the industry placement period.
In addition to the August 1 deadline for companies to signify their commitment to the scheme, the new round of applications will begin with a scholarship fair at Harper Adams on October 29, when company representatives will be able to meet the students concerned.
Selected and funded students from this new round of activity will begin their placement year in July 2016.
