AHDB Pork’s 2016/17 winter training calendar kicks off on October 18 with a technical workshop on managing health and safety on a pig unit.
The event, which is due to be held at Uncle Henry’s, Grayingham, Lincolnshire, is the first of no fewer than 43 training opportunities being provided by AHDB Pork across locations in all four of AHDB’s English regions.
“Enthusiastic people are the most important part of a successful pig business,” states AHDB Pork in the forward to the new calendar, adding that all the winter’s training courses are PIPR registered. This will enable members to gain PIPR points for different training sessions, followed by the awarding of a certificate of achievement on completion of a full course.
Courses include Stockman Development Scheme and Stockman Plus programmes, plus a Student of the Year award which will be presented to a participant who makes an outstanding contribution and who achieves significant progress in developing their skills throughout the course.
