Applicants for this year’s Nuffield Farming Scholarships are invited to think “outside the box” in making their submissions to become the newest members of the prestigious travel and study programme which dates from 1947.
Would-be scholars must be three years or more post tertiary education and have been engaged in farming, rural land-based industries, the food sector or other agriculturally associated industries for at least two years. They should also be under 45 years of age and must be intent on remaining in the industry.
The Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust (NFST), who run the programme, has broadened its sponsorship base this year, adding four new sponsors to its existing portfolio.
“There are exciting additions to our already comprehensive sponsor offering, including providers in the food chain, wine growing, horticulture industries and regional sponsor, East Sussex NFU,” said Nuffield director, Mike Vacher, adding that it was hoped this year’s prospective scholars will think ‘outside the box’ and come up with some alternative study topics.
The application deadline is July 31, 2015.
