RSPCA Assured is recruiting two Freedom Food assessors, predominantly to undertake pig and poultry assessments in East Anglia.
Key tasks will include arranging and carrying out on-site assessments of compliance with the RSPCA standards for animal welfare of farms, hauliers and abattoirs for both new applicants and existing members of the Freedom Food scheme.
In addition to listing standard educational requirements, RSPCA Assured say that their new recruits should have five years proven practical experience of commercial livestock production. Direct experience of farm assurance schemes and auditing skills would also be a bonus, along with a knowledge of the food production industry and legislative requirements.
The organisation’s job spec also highlights RSPCA Assured’s commitment to “promote and apply welfare standards drawn up by the RSPCA through marketing the Freedom Food labelling scheme”.
“This includes encouraging farmers, hauliers, abattoirs, etc., to participate, educating and building awareness with end users and consumers of food products bearing the certification mark.”
