The producer share of the retail pork price fell slightly during December to 40.4%, a decline of just over half a percentage point compared with the previous month. It is now at the level it was last December.
The average retail price remained unchanged at 381.6p/kg, while the EU-spec APP recorded a monthly decline of 1.4%, to stand at 154.17p/kg, accounting for the fall in producer share.
There was a picture of stability even across the different cuts, with only loin steaks and traditional pork sausage showing any variation. Most products are now at a price premium.
