NFU President, Meurig Raymond, food critic Jay Rayner and Sainsbury’s, Beth Hart, will share the speakers’ platform at JSR’s 25th annual farming conference in York next month.
Invited to contribute to the conference theme of “Making pork fit for farm and fit for fork”, the three celebrity speakers will be joined by JSR’s Head of Technology Transfer, Stephen Waite, and the company’s Director of Meat Science, Caroline Mitchell.
“It’s been a busy year at JSR and the conference will reflect that,” said JSR Chairman, Tim Rymer. “We have secured an excellent line up of exceptional speakers and key opinion formers from throughout the pork supply chain and I look forward to welcoming them to what will undoubtedly be one of our most exciting conferences in 25 years.”
Meurig Raymond (pictured) was elected to the union’s top office earlier this year. He farms 3,500 acres in Pembrokeshire and will centre his conference presentation on the future of the British livestock industry.
Writer, broadcaster and food critic, Jay Rayner, will deliver a talk based on his 2013 book “A Greedy Man in a Hungry World”.
Beth Hart is head of technical for fresh foods at Sainsbury’s. She will bring a retail perspective to the conference, including an update on the supermarket’s 20×20 sustainability plan.
The conference date is Tuesday, September 16.
